  2. Hi. I’m intrigued by this website but I do have one question? Having tried almost every anti-depressant and form of therapy for over ten years do you think ECT should be an option for me? I’m not getting any better and in many ways a lot worse but this treatment hasn’t been offered to me. Apparently it is seldom used in the UK. Thankyou 🙂

    • Hi Andrew! I’m so sorry it took me forever to reply. I’m honored you posted. ECT is out there, even if it’s not a trumpeted therapy. As most things, physicians who don’t directly work with a therapy, don’t generally advertise it. It’s just the nature of things. Let me throw it out there on the “thread” and see who offers it in your area. Where are you in the UK? Be well. Q

  3. Hello. No worries. Thankyou for your reply. I live in the north-west of England. Thanks very much.

    Take Care,

    Andrew

    • Hi Andrew,
This is all I’ve gotten back so far. I’ll forward any more specifics that come in time. Let me know if you get into a program. Be well.

“there is certainly plenty of use of ECT in the UK and looking on the net, there is a clinic in Blackpool that provides ECT, the Parkwood Clinic (which is in the NW of England).”

        • I’m so sorry to hear this Andrew. What have been your efforts? I can pass them along and see if we can problem solve together if you like.

I am good. Thank you for asking. Have been enjoying so much the collaboration of Dr. Silvet on the blog here. She is a huge boon.

Even in this, it is great to hear from you. Please keep in touch and speak!
          Keep on.
          Dr. Q

          • Hello. Nice to hear from you. Hope you’re well!

I was told that because I’m not catatonic I am able to eat, drink and move around I didn’t need it. There was also a question of age coming into it.

            Thank you

  4. I need help bad. Depression and anxiety for nearly 50 years. Have been trying new treatment called TMS. Do you know about it. Very very painful and have to do it for 36 sessions of 37.5 minutes. Doctor at place said he thought I really need ECT but i no longer have a psychiatrist and don’t know how to find one who will do it. Live in southern part of Virginia near Greensboro NC. Could you please send me a name to get help. Thank you

    • I’ve received some information from other colleagues.

Carilion Clinic, apparently now part of VPI’s new medical school, offers ECT according to their website.

      Another colleague said,
“contact Predrag (Pedja) Gligorovic who runs ECT at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC
      His email is pgligoro@wakehealth.edu
She should tell Dr Gligorovic that I referred her,
      Vaughn McCall”.

And another recommended Duke University which is a couple hours from where you described your location is.

I hope this helps and would love to get an update from you any time. Keep on lady courage!

  5. Dr. fantastic book… I’m considering ECT and am working through the questions… I had a question about your book shall I ask it here? Or do you have an email?
