Your Personal Fight For Emotional Freedom

Self-Care Tip #151 – Fight to be a friend to yourself.

My friend Carl, after reading yesterday’s blog-post, introduced me to this gorgeous song.  I found it on YouTube connected to a slide show of our soldiers.  Thank you to our courageous American troops fighting for the freedoms we enjoy and take and take and take.  We know that when you fight, there are losses.

We all are soldiers of sorts, fighting in life for our own selves for so many reasons.  But it’s not about the reasons or motives.  God takes care of those.  So regardless of why, thank you to all of you out there fighting for your own selves.  You who want your own emotional freedom.  The good that comes from this courageous fight ripples on the life-waves and reaches us.  Thank you.  We know that when you fight, there are losses.

Carl, thank you.  Your personal fight, your courage, touches all of us.  What you do is self-care, is care for us, is care.

Let There Be Peace on Earth, by Gill Vince

Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with Me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our father
Brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother
In perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with Me
Let this be the moment now.
With every step I take
Let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment
And live each moment
With peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth,
And let it begin with Me.

(child)
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with Me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
With god as our father
Brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother
In perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with Me
Let this be the moment now.
With every step I take
Let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment
And live each moment
In peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with Me.

  1. Hopefully as good ripples, but I am sure that I have sent out some bad ones, too. More and more I have learned that we cannot control other people (bing! bing!), but we can partially control how we react, or try to. Learning has been difficult, and not perfect for me. I’ve made mistakes. But the thing to do is to press onward.

  2. Great job, Carl and DQ. The song and images keep fresh in our mind the sacrifices that others make for us everyday. Interestingly enough, it was the words of a Marine that helped really put my current situation in perspective. Because of a divorce that has turned messy, I have not been able to spend time with my son for the last month. A couple of weeks ago I was complaining about my tough situation to a friend of mine that happens to be a Marine. His respond…”Beats being deployed”. All of the sudden I realized that I was one of many that wouldn’t be able to spend time with my son during Christmas. Also, I realized how many men and women voluntarily leave the families and the comforts of home to serve our country. I’ve run that phrase through my mind every time I start feeling sorry for myself and my current situation, I just think..”Beats being deployed”

Another idea to share. When you are on a plane and you see a soldier, thank them and ask them if they need to use your phone. Many of these men and women are coming back from deployment and do not have working cel phones. You’ll be surprised how many of them take you up on the offer.

    • wow. thanks rick. great parallel for me and others.
great rec re: something to offer soldiers. forward but reasonable. It’s always nice to have “permission” to connect when we feel awkward and this gives it to us in a way. hopefully we’ll remember to reach out w confidence for others.

  3. I think it’s actually “Vince Gill” regardless, keep up the great work Dr. Q, inspiration just flows out of you and it’s contagious!

      • I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I did notice this post received a “thumbs down” lol but oh well no one ever got anywhere without a little controversy, we are all different and individual which means we all have different opinions and views. Keep up the good work 🙂
